Today was a big day for me. I just submitted my application with a long tail of documentation to the International Coaching Federation.
I've been a coach since 2014 and acquired my first ACC certification in 2015 which stands for Associate Certified Coach.
By enhancing the skill level from ACC to PCC, you prove your dedication to the profession and your clients, as well as your desire to facilitate sustainable outcomes.
To earn the next level Professional Certified Coach (PCC), you must complete a full coach training program designated as an ICF Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) or at least 125 hours of coach-specific training from another coaching program. The client coaching experience required at the PCC level is 500 hours with at least 25 clients following the start of coach-specific training.
I'm very supportive of a coach having a certification, which requires him to acquire continuous education and maintain his/her certification, by honing the skills and adding to the skill set every year. The certification expires after 3 years, and then you need to show that you have added to your knowledge and experience and verify it.
If you want to have a coach working with you who is following is subject to the Ethical Code of Conduct for coaches then ask the following before you make your choice.
Ask:
Have you trained to be a coach with a certified school
Are you a certified coach? Which level?
How many hours have you accumulated as a coach?
I'm celebrating tonight 🥂 and going to the theatre!
