Knowing your strengths is knowing your worth. Putting your strengths to work is critical. Your excitement and enthusiasm will aid your job search, involuntarily show up during interviews, and in your work.
Strength is much more than something you are good at or capable of doing well, it also gives you energy when you perform it. Being motivated and enjoying your activities is what leads to engaged and productive individuals. By understanding what motivates you and why, you will be happier, more confident, and able to achieve your goals easier.
I don't know how many times when I'm interviewing the candidates are more descriptive of their weaknesses than their strengths. Somehow they come across as reserved when expressing how their strengths serve them.
For someone who wants to move to an entirely new industry but is not sure how to make that happen, fear of the unknown can be a showstopper. However, people can and do move between fields all the time—the key is to identify your strengths and learn how they serve you.
The key is to determine both what you are good at, what you enjoy, and what gives you energy, a.k.a. your strengths. Knowing your strengths provides language to talk about what you are looking for in a role that not only makes you appear focused and self-aware to employers but also allows you to translate these assets into descriptive language for sharper cover letters and interviews.
Strengths Profile is an online assessment that gives you a unique Profile revealing your realised and unrealised strengths, learned behaviours and weaknesses. You can then get to work developing and putting your strengths to work.
I am a licensed strengths profiler and love to help people with strengths spotting.
I will be going LIVE on Facebook next week elaborating on strengths for job seekers and how they can harness their knowledge on their own strengths to do create better applications and do better in job interviews. Here is my new private group, which I invite you to join: https://www.facebook.com/groups/yourcareertakeoff
